Hollywood Trailblazers

Every year, Conde Nast Traveler takes a serious look at who in Hollywood is affecting substantial social change and celebrates those fierce few in their Visionaries issue. This year, Drew Barrymore, Hayden Panettiere and Renee Zellweger are the three lovely ladies whose benevolence is being honored.

Cover girl Barrymore earned her slot thanks to tireless work on behalf of the World Food Programme (for which she is an Ambassador). "I want to explore and become more socially aware,” says tells the magazine (on stands now). As a result of her involvement, rural communities in Kenya have received brand new primary schools, food for children, and wells that are "life-altering" for the villagers. "Travelers should look at the harsh realities of a place but balance that with seeking its beauty. It’s important to acknowledge the reality of how the world functions but also to keep a sense of hope," says Barrymore.

Zellweger has also directed her philanthropic attention towards Africa, aiming to fight poverty through female empowerment, while Panettiere is being celebrated for her highly public work to help save the world’s endangered whales and dolphins.
