Previously, the first Idol champ Kelly Clarkson album, Thankful, shot out of the gate to No. 1 on May 3, 2003 with 297,000 albums sold.
Scotty’s album also marks the biggest debut sales week of any Idol winner's first album since David Cook's 2008, self-titled album started with 280,000 at No. 3.
