Bill Rancic talked to the Today show's Ann Curry this morning, to give viewers an update on his wife Giuliana Rancic who's currently at home recovering from her recent double lumpectomy surgery. The E! News host revealed just this Monday on Today that she has breast cancer.

"The surgery lasted for about two hours and she's a trooper," Rancic said. "She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out. She's doing well at home recovering and I'm adding nurse to my resume now -- she's having a lot of fun with that," he joked.

He also reflected on Giuliana's recent tough times, where she has publicly struggled to get pregnant with the couple's first child and now has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Well you know, Giuliana's had a tough year and a half between the IVF [in vitro fertilization] attempts and now with this," he said somberly. "For me, I just wish I could carry some of the load. I just wish I could take the pain away. ... Watching her be wheeled into the operating room was heartbreaking for me."

But with her prognosis remaining good, Rancic revealed that Giuliana is planning to go back to work as early as next week.

"She's excited," he said about her new outlook on life. "She's going to go back to work next week, God willing, and she's really viewing life a little bit differently. It's funny when you go through a situation like this, it kind of turns the volume down on the things that aren't really that important."
