Prince William and Kate Middleton have been named along with Prince Harry as official ambassadors to Britain's Olympic and Paralympic teams ahead of the London 2012 Games.
In a statement after Thursday's announcement, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were "honored" to serve with Harry in their ambassadorial roles. "London hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will inspire so many people – particularly the young – to be the best they can be. We are hugely looking forward to this incredible sporting competition, but are also looking beyond next summer’s Games to the springboard it will provide for future success and excellence."
The royals will join a group of 27 of Britain's most inspirational and accomplished Olympians from previous competitions who were named ambassadors earlier this year.
