The Real Carrie Bradshaw to Divorce

Author Candace Bushnell, whose life served as the inspiration for Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, has filed for divorce from ballet dancer Charles Askegard, her husband of nine years.

"We had some wonderful times in our nine-year marriage, and I still care about Charles as a person. I respect his desire to pursue his own happiness and hope that we will continue to be friends in the future," the author told Page Six, who first reported the news.

Bushnell's relationship with the New York City Ballet virtuoso mirrored one of SATC's most memorable plotlines: Carrie's relationship with Aleksandr Petrovsky, who was played by former ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov.
