One of America's oldest and treasured traditions is the decoration of the official White House Christmas tree and presidential residence. We've got an up-close look at this year's cheery holiday decor, which prominently features the "First Dog" Bo, as well as a deliciously authentic white chocolate replica of the White House.

HGTV presents White House Christmas 2011, which follows First Lady Michelle Obama and the rest of the family as they participate in transforming America's most famous residence into a festive holiday paradise.

In this behind-the-scenes one-hour special, designer Genevieve Gorder speaks to the dozens of staff members and volunteers who contribute to this monumental decoration effort.

White House Christmas 2011 -- which premieres on HGTV this Sunday, December 11 at 8:00 pm -- also features the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony with President Barack Obama and his family.
