Sinead O'Connor's Desperate Twitter Plea for Help

An apparently distraught Sinead O'Connor took to Twitter on Wednesday to issue an urgent plea for psychiatric help.

After concluding that her home country of Ireland "is a VERY hard place to find help in," the Nothing Compares 2 U singer tweeted: "Does any1 know a psychiatrist in Dublin or Wicklow who could urgently see me today please? I'm really un-well... and in danger." A later message reads: "Can any psychiatrist see me today an get me back on meds an help me without me having to go hospital?"

The singer explains that a tabloid report about her husband and the criticism she's drawn for recently marrying him had triggered her desperate state. Her long string of tweets finally ends with some positive news. "Hey... wanna thank all SO much for such great help today. Have a number of numbers, contacts, etc now and appointments. Spoke to some great psych docs u all put me on to, gonna meet a few," she said, and confirmed reports that she recently fractured her ankle and had to go to the hospital.

O'Connor used Twitter last month to announce her Las Vegas wedding to boyfriend Barry Herridge, but then announced her plans to divorce him after just 16 days. She later said the two had reconciled and were back together.
