Paula Deen Confirms Diabetes Rumors

For years Paula Deen has dodged rumors of diabetes, but in a statement released by the celebrity chef this morning, the 64-year-old confirms she has been struggling with the disease for quite some time.

"I was determined to share my positive approach and not let diabetes stand in the way of enjoying my life," said Paula Deen, revealing her ailment with the launch of her partnership with Diabetes in a New Light, a lifestyle guide for managing the disease.

"I'm excited to team up with Novo Nordisk on this initiative to show others that managing diabetes does not have to stop you from enjoying the things you love."

Deen aims to serve as a more realistic role model for the all-American food entuhsiast as the Diabetes in a New Light program promises you can live a full life with the disease without "settl[ing] for less"

Her sons Bobby and Jamie have also signed on to promote the blood sugar friendly program.
