Ray J -- one of the few people to spend time with Whitney Houston in her last days -- is expressing devastation over the pop superstar's shocking death.
In a statement to The Associated Press on Friday, the singer/songwriter said he's spent the last few days trying to "process the emptiness that I feel."
The singer said that while the entire world lost an icon, he had lost a "close friend." Calling her by her nickname, he added: "Nippy, I miss you so much!" A rep for Ray J -- the sister of R&B singer Brandy -- confirmed that he will attend Houston's funeral service tomorrow in Newark, NJ.
Ray J and Houston spent time together in the days leading up to the 48-year-old pop icon's sudden death last Saturday, when her body was found inside her hotel suite in Beverly Hills.
