Jennifer Hudson Could Testify at Murder Trial

Jennifer Hudson could be called to testify against the man accused of killing three members of her family.

The Academy Award winner has been placed on the witness list for the trial of William Balfour, scheduled to begin April 9 in Chicago, the Associated Press reports. But prosecutors have not yet disclosed whether Hudson will actually take the stand in the case.

Balfour -- the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister, Julia -- is charged with first-degree murder in the October 2008 slayings of Hudson's mother, brother and nephew. Prosecutors allege the suspect shot the family members in a jealous rage because Julia Hudson was dating another man.

A court filing by prosecutors last week indicated that Hudson had told investigators she'd known Balfour since childhood and had advised her sister not to marry him.
