Dionne Warwick on What She Thinks Killed Whitney
Dionne Warwick is opening up to ET about the death of her cousin Whitney Houston and reveals what she thinks killed the pop superstar.
When asked what she expects to hear when authorities issue a final cause of death for Houston following the results of toxicology tests, Warwick tells ET's Christina McLarty, "You know, in all honesty, I think she had a heart attack, that's what I think happened to her." When asked whether she believed drugs played a role in the death, Warwick added, " I don't know if it's that or not. I think her heart just gave out."

Warwick also spoke about the feelings she had while accompanying Houston's body aboard the plane that transported the Grammy winner back to her native New Jersey. "It was a combination of things, stories, laughter, tears. All the emotions that you feel when somebody very near to you passes."
The singer recounted how she spoke with Houston on the day she died and said she was looking forward to seeing Warwick at Clive Davis's annual pre-Grammy party later that night. "She says, alright, then we're going to have a good time tonight. I said ok, wonderful. She sounded so up and ready..." Warwick told Christina.

"I have not had an opportunity to just let it go. As I said, recording has been a blessing for me. It's taken me out of a reason to just break down. I know it's coming. I know it's going to come soon and I'm looking forward to it. I really am. I want to get it out. I want to have a peace that I know she's enjoying right now."
Warwick also revealed the moment she was summoned to the hotel without knowing the reason. "I got the phone call, my, my youngest son called me and said that Patti just called him and asked where I was. And he says she's here in LA, and in no uncertain terms, get her here to the hotel now and nothing said about anything, but just get her here."

Warwick added, "And when I got there, it was not a pleasant arrival, you know it was
just not to be believed and still is not to be believed, I'm still
struggling with that, very, very much. That, um, this wonderful young
lady is no longer with us, physically, but emotionally, her spirit will
run around this world for the rest of our lives and all of those who
thought of her in that fashion. They'll always remember her, you know,
she was a good girl, she really was a good little girl."
We caught up with Warwick as she worked in the studio on a new album, which remains untitled at this point. However, Warwick is calling it her "50th Anniversary" celebration album that will include some new original songs written for her by Burt Bacharach.
