Jermaine Jones, American Idol's "gentle giant," has confirmed via Twitter that he has been shut out of the competition just one day shy of Wednesday's show.

In a tweet which has since been redacted, Jones announced Tuesday that he would no longer participate in the singing competition.

"Awww I will no longer b on the show," wrote Jermaine, confirming the internet rumors swirling earlier in the day.

According to TMZ, the 25-year-old singer was charged with crimes in 2011 and allegedly provided false information to the police. He also reportedly has a handful of outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Neither American Idol nor FOX has officially confirmed Jermaine's disqualification, but an announcement is expected to be made during the live broadcast tomorrow night.
