'The Situation' Speaks Out About Seeking Treatment

UPDATE:

Today, the Situation has issued a statement via his website, stating, "I want to set the record straight. I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."

Likewise, the reality star's brother, Marc Sorrentino, gave this statement to ET: "Our entire family is very, very supportive of Mike and his proactive decision. He will be out of treatment soon and ready to work for season six of Jersey Shore."

The MTV star has spent the past few weeks in an undisclosed rehabilitation facility following an "extensive production and appearance schedule." Sorrentino's representative denies his stay at the facility is substance abuse-related.

Mike tweeted "Don't believe everything you read or hear" shortly after news broke, likely referencing to the rumor that he was recovering from drug/alcohol issues.

There has been no word yet on whether the Situation's rehab stay will affect production schedule on season six of Jersey Shore. On Monday MTV confirmed that all seven of his Shoremates would return.
