Peter Facinelli Files for Divorce

Peter Facinelli has officially filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Jennie Garth, ET has learned.

The estranged couple released a joint statement to ET earlier this month, announcing the split, saying, "While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time."

Although the divorce papers were filed today, Facinelli states the date of separation as January 1, 2012. The Twilight Saga star went on to cite "irreconcilable differences" for the split.

Jennie Garth Opens Up About Failed Marriage

Facinelli and Garth have three daughters. In the papers, Facinelli expressed a desire to share joint physical and legal custody of the children.
