More than eight months after announcing their split, Marc Anthony has officially filed for divorce from Jennifer Lopez, ET has learned.

In the papers obtained by ET Marc cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakup. The filings go on to request that Marc be granted joint legal and physical custody of the couple's 4-year-old twins, Emme and Max.

Back in July, the estranged couple told ET in a joint statement, "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

Marc and J.Lo wed in 2004. This will be Marc's second divorce, while it marks J.Lo's third.
