Legendary British hair stylist Vidal Sassoon has passed away, reportedly from natural causes, at his home in Bel Air, CA. In 2011, the famed stylist announced that he had been diagnosed in 2009 with blood cancer or leukemia. He was 84 years old.
Sassoon rose to fame in London’s swinging ‘60s, invented the famous "wedge" haircut and became one of the first hairdresser to have his name on a major product line, which is now worth around $150 million. In the 1980s, Sassoon made the phrase, “If you don’t look good, we don’t look good,” famous in a string of commercials. Today, there are Vidal Sassoon salons in 13 countries around the world.
