The Jazz Foundation of America's A Great Night in Harlem event, benefitting the Jazz Musicians Emergency Fund which raises money to assist elder jazz and blues musicians in crisis across the country, took place last night at NYC's legendary Apollo Theater, where the recent death of Donna Summer of course weighed heavily on all the musicians' minds. ET caught up with Macy Gray, Quincy Jones and Roberta Flack, who all shared their favorite personal memories with the disco legend.
"Well I can say that Donna Summer made me Thanksgiving dinner," Gray smiled. "We spent Thanksgiving together in Belgium, and so I got to do a show with her, and I got to sing MacArthur Park with her, so I got lucky. But she was just amazing as a person, and what she did for music is insane. I don't even think there would be dance music without her."

"I hope they'll finally put her in the Hall of Fame," she added. "That was a real diss a couple of years ago, and I hope they feel bad about that and they actually do it now."
Jones shared that he'll miss Donna the most "as just a human being."
"A lot of incredible memories, love and friendship there you know? ... It's unbelievable," he said.
Roberta Flack, who revealed that she and the late singer shared the same doctor when they were both trying to lose weight at some point, shared that her favorite memory of Summer was when she first broke out onto the music scene.

"I remember Quincy making a comment about her when she first came out and I happened to be somewhere where he was, and there were a lot of other musicians gathered, and he said, 'She got some goods,'" she recalled. "And she did have some goods. Her voice, her height, her beautiful face, beautiful skin, complete confidence on stage ... she knew what she was doing and was definitely where she belonged. She was where she was supposed to be."
