Back in 1984, Entertainment Tonight sat down with former Disco Queen Donna Summer to talk about her ever-evolving career, her inspirations for such hits as She Works Hard for the Money, her insecurities and her religious beliefs. Interestingly, as she was talking about the choice people have in the afterlife, the telephone immediately rang, interrupting the interview. Watch the video for that eerie final moment, and her reaction…
"I think what people really have to get in their minds is that after this life is over, they have a choice," said the Grammy winner and practicing Christian. "If they choose for God, fine. If they choose against Him, that's fine. … If there's anything that I can bring to people, it's that awareness that I can make them conscious of the fact that they do have a decision to make. And I'm not trying to spoil their party or anything, but things are going to happen real soon and they need to know that the party is going to be over (phone rings, she looks at camera)."
The star also talks about the sleepy bathroom attendant that inspired her to write her hit 1983 song She Works Hard for the Money.
Donna Summer passed away Thursday, May 17 after a private, 10-month battle with lung cancer. She was 63.
