'Goodfellas' Mobster Henry Hill Dies

Henry Hill, the longtime New York City mobster-turned FBI informant portrayed in the movie Goodfellas, has died at age 69.

Hill's partner and manager Lisa Caserta confirmed to CBS News that he died on Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital while surrounded by family members. She said that the former mafia member "went out pretty peacefully, for a goodfella."

No specific cause of death was cited, but Caserta said that years of heavy smoking combined with complications from a recent heart attack contributed to his death.

Hill's story was documented in Nicholas Pileggi's 1986 book Wiseguy, which was later adapted by Martin Scorsese for the film Goodfellas, starring actor Ray Liotta as Hill.
