Alec Baldwin has gone through his fair share of ups and downs in Hollywood, so it would seem fitting for him to interview another star who's fallen victim to his own rage -- Mel Gibson.
As the host of the NPR podcast, Here's The Thing, Alec has interviewed many luminaries, and the actor told Vanity Fair that Mel Gibson was one person that he's sought after as a guest.
Baldwin described the conversation to the magazine, saying, "I said, 'Mel, this isn't about regurgitating. You're one of the greatest movie stars of your generation and you were one of the most successful directors in this business and you won the Academy Award. And the only thing I want to ask you about the travails in your life is: What did you learn?'"
Both actors have had private voice mails leaked, each featuring the men spewing insults in a bitter rant. Alec's voice mail was meant for his then-11-year-old daughter Ireland, while Mel's infamous rants were directed at his ex Oksana Grigorieva.
There seems to be less for the 30 Rock star to be upset about nowadays. The Emmy winner married yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas on June 30.
"I thought, I'm probably never going to meet somebody like this again, and so I decided I would get married," Baldwin said.
Although he's "perfectly happy" with his life now, Baldwin admitted that he still harbors a strong desire to go into politics, but he's not sure if he'll ever act on those feelings.
"You've got to put up with all this s**t," said Baldwin, who's been somewhat deterred by the trials that he's seen President Barack Obama deal with while in office.
Baldwin's entire interview is featured in the August issue of Vanity Fair, which will be available on newsstands in New York and L.A. on July 5, and nationally and on the iPad, Nook, and Kindle on July 10.
