'Expendables 2' Filmmakers Sued For Stuntman Death

The family of a stuntman killed during production of The Expendables 2 has sued the film's producers for wrongful death.

Nu Image and Millennium Films are named in the suit filed by Zong Yu Liu and Tan Mei Bai, parents of Kun Liu, a Chinese stuntman who was killed in Bulgaria.

Seeking upwards of $25,000 in damages, Liu's family alleges the studios and stunt coordinator, Chad Stahelski, "recklessly organized, planned, set up, produced, directed, trained, coordinated and otherwise prepared for and implemented the stunt which involved the use of explosives and other similar ultra-hazardous activities in the rubber boat so as to cause an explosion, thereby injuring [Liu] and causing his death."

In response to the tragic news last October, Schwarzenegger tweeted, "Everyone I met on the stunt team on The Expendables 2 was a joy to work with. My thoughts & prayers are with the families and the crew."

Nu Image/Millennium Films released a statement as well conveying their condolences: "It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident."
