The answer is yes! Phelps went head-to-head with rival and teammate Ryan Lochte in the 200m individual medley and came out ahead. Not only is this victory his 16th gold and 20th medal overall, but it is Phelps' third straight Olympic victory in the 200m individual medley. No male athlete has ever before accomplished the feat of winning the same event in three consecutive Games.

Team USA's top two male swimmers are doing America proud. Lochte received the silver in the race, adding to his very own catalogue of Olympic hardware. After a very short turn-around, Phelps made another splash by finishing first in his group for the semi-finals of the Men's 100m butterfly.
