In divorce papers filed today in L.A. Superior Court and obtained by ET, the 62-year-old music icon -- using his legal name, Stevland Morris -- checked the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences" box and detailed that he and Kai Millard Morris have been separated since October 2009.

Wonder agrees to pay both spousal and child support and is asking for joint custody of their two boys, Kailand, 10, and Mandla, 7. The blind music legend signed the documents with two fingerprints.

Wonder and Morris married in 2001. It was the second marriage for the superstar, who was hitched to Motown singer Syreeta Wright from 1970-72. He has seven children from his two marriages and several relationships.
