Miley Cyrus Reveals Engagement Details

Miley Cyrus is opening up about her recent engagement to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth and dishing details on her ring.

Miley tells the September issue of Marie Claire -- on newsstands August 14 -- that the engagement proposal was a "complete surprise" to her and members of her family.

The 19-year-old singer/actress did say that while there was some talk beforehand about an engagement, she had no part in choosing her ring. "I had no input," she tells the magazine. "We'd been kind of talking about getting engaged, I saw (the ring) online at one point and thought it was really pretty. I just love that it's old and has a story.  And I'm happy because it doesn't look like anything else I wear."

When asked about her views on marriage and getting engaged at such a young age, Miley struck a positive tone. "Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with. I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other." She also said the couple wants to have "a long engagement."

On how she gets along with her fiancé, Miley said, "Liam and I have a really good relationship -- neither of us is super-jealous. We know each other and would never do anything to hurt each other."
