'Makeover' Star Previously Outweighed NFL Linemen
August 13, 2012
Last night's episode of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition featured the dramatic story of Sally Adams -- a 45-year-old mother who was sidelined by an injury that put her in a wheelchair and caused her to balloon up to 352 pounds. We sat down with Sally to find out what finally made her realize she had to get serious about shedding the pounds.
Sally explains that her defining moment came one day while watching football on television and realizing her weight was out of control. "I saw that I outweighed the defensive line. It was that moment -- and at that point I started looking for ways I could get some really serious help."
In the show, that help came in the form physical trainer and motivator Chris Powell, who along with his wife Heidi became inspired by Sally's ability to come back from her injury and reach her weight loss goals.
At first the reality star said she felt embarrassed by the ever-present cameras, but gradually she learned the right way to cope. "There's no way to prepare for people being up close and personal with every fat roll you have. But eventually I forgot that the the cameras were there and I was just living my life - just doing the workouts and being myself."
Watch the video to hear Chris' theory on why the show is show popular and inspirational and you can catch episodes of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on ABC.
