An Oprah Catch Phrase Makes the Dictionary

In a new video, Oprah Winfrey proudly announces the addition of the term aha moment into the dictionary!

The 2012 edition of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines an aha moment as "a moment of sudden realization, inspiration, insight, recognition, or comprehension."

"I always love those moments when I sit down to talk to somebody and they say something that makes me look at life or a situation in a completely different way," Oprah says in the video. "That is an aha moment for me."

According to Merriam-Webster's Associate Editor and expert lexicographer Kory Stamper, the term dates back to a 1939 psychology textbook, but it clearly took a life of its own when Oprah Winfrey adopted it in the '90s.

Other words to make it into Merriam-Webster's update: sexting, man cave, gastropub, mash-up, bucket list, game changer and f-bomb.
