Gabrielle Douglas' Olympic fantasy-come-to-life was followed by fulfilling her dream of meeting Oprah Winfrey.
On this Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter, airing on OWN, Gabby challenges Lady O to hop up on the four-inch wide balance beam. "I showed her a couple of tricks and I made her get up on the beam and do a scale, so that was fun!" she told ET.
The gold medalist may only be 16 years old, but Gabby seems poised to be the hottest ticket on the commencement address market. The Olympic gymnast lent her beaming smile and upbeat personality to inspire New York's youth to reach for the stars.
"I really wanted to get across just never give up and always keep fighting even if you're having hard times in whatever sport you do, just always know that all things are possible," she said eloquently. "Don't be afraid. Just always be courageous."
Gabby's motivational and spiritual message hit it out of the ballpark with the children from the YMCA who gathered at Citi Field on Thursday in Flushing, NY, home of the New York Mets.
