Just In: Usher Awarded Primary Custody of Sons
August 24, 2012
ET confirms that Usher has been awarded primary custody of his two sons by the Fulton County Court in Georgia after a bitter battle.
The entertainer had been locked in a bitter custody clash with ex-wife Tameka Foster, seeking sole custody and saying that Foster was "incapable of being a proper parent" and "does not have the emotional stability to or capacity to bond with [the boys], and therefore she is handicapped," according to MyFox Atlanta. Foster accused the singer of being an absentee father who devoted more time to his career; she also accused him of using drugs in front of the children.
In response to the decision, Foster tweeted, "Money can buy many things... But in the end. Truth & goodness will prevail. I must continue to believe this. Stand firm."
Usher was married to Foster for less than two years and filed for divorce in June 2009. In addition to the trying case, one of Foster's three sons from previous relationships, 11-year-old Kile Glover, died just last month after complications from a jet ski accident on Lake Lainier in Georgia.
