Russell Crowe's kayaking trip in New York ended with a call for the U.S. Coast Guard on Saturday.

Reuters reports that the Oscar winner "flagged down a Coast Guard patrol" at around 10 p.m. after he and a friend fell into poor conditions in the water and beached their kayaks in Huntington Bay.

Crowe thanked "the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way" but contended that he was "not lost," tweeting, "we knew exactly where we were, paddling around from csh [Cold Spring Harbor] into wind, we ran out of day. Grand adventure eh."

Crowe is currently filming Noah in the New York area. The movie is due out in 2014.
