This is a relationship rumor no one could have seen coming. This weekend, reports hit the web that Charlize Theron, 37, and Eric Stonestreet, 41, were dating. The Modern Family funnyman took to his Twitter to set the record straight.

"I wish people would stop spreading rumors that Charlize Theron and I are dating. Its starting to make Halle Berry jealous," Stonestreet joked.

He followed that quip up by revealing his date to Sunday night's Emmy awards, tweeting: "Today I'm taking my best friend Paul to the Emmys. He dared me to audition for the first play I ever did at #kstate. #Emmys"

The random rumors started between Theron, 37, and Stonestreet, 41, after the ABC star split from his longtime girlfriend Katherine Tokarz, while the Young Adult star and new mom has been single since her split from actor Stuart Townsend. Stonestreet and Theron were also pictured together this past April at the White House Correspondents Dinner
