Speaking out for the first time since her recent split with Bachelor Ben Flajnik, a solo Courtney Robertson lends some insight into their abrupt breakup.

"There wasn't some huge fight or one specific thing that led to it… things had gotten strained," Courtney revealed to Wetpaint Entertainment. "We both realized it in the last three weeks."

Although the pair began their whirlwind romance on a drama-filled season of The Bachelor, the 29-year-old model says her relationship with Ben, 28, didn't go out with a bang-- it simply fizzled out.

"There's really no story to tell other than the fact that it just wasn't working out," she explains. "Of course it's sad, but we both know it's for the best."

Courtney adds, "Ben will always have a special place in my heart…I have no regrets."

The couple, who got engaged over a year ago, released a joint statement last Friday confirming their split. Courtney and Ben have since reached out via Twitter to thank fans for their support during this tough time.

"Thank you all so much for the kind words and for believing in us!" wrote Courtney. "We did too, and tried our best! I really appreciate all the love and support. XO"

"A big thanks to you all for your support during this time in my life," posted Ben. "It has been a crazy journey over the past couple years and I am blessed to have amazing friends/fam."
