Gwyneth Paltrow's 40th birthday party guest list looks more like the arrivals for an awards show.

Celebrity attendees included Cameron Diaz, Beyonce Knowles, Chelsea Handler, Ethan Hawke, Steven Spielberg, Kristin Wiig and her mother Blythe Danner. The famous friends arrived at the fancy Elio's restaurant in New York City's Upper East Side on Thursday night. The birthday girl, who was recently deemed by People magazine as the best dressed woman of 2012, wore a daring black and white pants number for her big night.

This birthday bash was a little belated. Paltrow turned the big 4-0 on Sept. 27th. Just call it fashionably delayed.
