Lance Armstrong is having a rough couple of months. After being stripped of his seven titles in the Tour de France, he has both stepped down from his cancer-fighting charity Livestrong and has been fired from Nike, USA Today reports.
Armstrong, who battled with cancer himself, stepped down from the charity saying he wanted to "spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career."
Meanwhile, Nike has announced it will remove the cyclist's name from the Lance Armstrong Fitness Center at its world headquarters. "Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him," Nike said in a statement to USA Today. "Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner."
This all comes following the USADA's investigation of Armstrong, 41, that included extensive evidence that he had been doping up to gain advantage throughout his cycling career. Armstrong continues to deny these claims.
