Country music singer Deana Carter filed for legal separation on Tuesday, ET has learned.

According to court documents obtained by ET, Deana, 46, has been separated from husband Brandon Malone for over a year, but now they are moving to make their split official.

The filings cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation, and state that Deana is seeking spousal support.

Deana and Brandon wed in Malibu on October 3, 2009. They have no minor children together.
