Ariel Winter's Dad Files Guardianship Declaration

Ariel Winter's father has filed an objection to the current guardianship of the 14-year-old Modern Family star and says he would be willing to care for her.

In court papers filed Tuesday morning, Glenn Workman states that he is "more than capable of caring for Ariel in every way."  Workman denies allegations in the current petition of guardianship that alleges he has been "estranged and incapable of properly caring for" Ariel.

Workman states that "due to circumstances relating to my relationship with Ariel's mother," he has been unable to keep in daily contact with his daughter. But he writes in the papers that he would be "willing to move back to the family residence so I can care for her."

Court documents filed October 3 in L.A. Superior Court state that temporary guardianship of Ariel has been granted to her older sister Shanelle and that her mother, Crystal Workman, is not to have any contact with her daughter for the moment. At a hearing scheduled for later Tuesday, a judge will consider whether Ariel should continue living with her sister.

On Monday, Winter's brother, Jimmy Workman, submitted a court declaration urging the court system to help his family get back together. "I have NEVER seen any physical or emotional abuse in the home of my parents regarding Ariel," Jimmy writes in his declaration. "I have seen normal mother and daughter arguments and banter back and forth but nothing more. Counseling was set up for Chrisoula and Ariel to get to the root of their issues and corrected."
