The biggest names in film and TV gathered Sunday night in Hollywood as the Trevor Project hosted their high-profile annual Trevor Live
Everyone from Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, to Ricki Lake and Chris Colfer turned out to support the charity and sang nothing but praises for international pop star, Katy Perry who was honored with the Trevor Hero Award.
"She unites people through her music ... It sets a very beautiful example that if you are in a position where you have the ability to speak up, speak up for good things, stand by great things and that's what she's doing," admired Zoe Saldana.
Perry was given the award for empowering youth and increasing visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community.
Trevor Live, an annual event benefiting the life affirming work of The Trevor Project, featured performances by Kristin Chenoweth, Darren Criss, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Jessica Sanchez, among others, with celebrity Voice of God, Amy Poehler.
The number of explicit representations of the LGBTQ community on television today is at a record high. The stars of such shows leading that pact, including The New Normal, Glee, and Revenge commented on the growing media trend.
Revenge's Gabriel Mann, who portrays a bi-sexual character on the ABC soap explained, "More and more we're seeing gay characters on television ... and that's been fun to bring to primetime."
