Ariel Winter's Brother Speaks Out on Family Drama
December 12, 2012
Modern Family star Ariel Winter's father, Glenn Workman, has been granted temporary control of his daughter's finances after a family agreement was reached prior to a scheduled custody hearing in Los Angeles. We spoke with Ariel's brother, Jimmy Workman, outside the courthouse to get his opinion about the new arrangement and to find out what's next for the family after a weeks-long public feud.
Under the new agreement, Ariel Winter will continue to live with her adult sister, Shanelle Gray, who currently has temporary guardianship.

Ariel, 14, arrived to the courthouse walking hand-in-hand with Shanelle. Her mom, Chrisoula 'Crystal' Workman, her father Glenn and brother Jimmy were also present during the negotiations on Wednesday.
A judge reviewed the family agreement, which stipulates that Glenn Workman will take temporary control of his daughter's finances, while both parents undergo counseling with other family members in an attempt to reach a potential long-term reunification.

Shanelle got temporary custody in October after court documents alleged that Ariel had "been the victim of ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name calling, personal insults about minor and minor's height, attempts to 'sexualize' minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time by the minor's mother [Chrisoula 'Crystal' Workman]..." Ariel's mother has denied the allegations.
The agreement reached Wednesday calls for Ariel's mother to have no involvement in her acting career. "Chrisoula Workman shall have no contact with nor in any way interfere with Ariel Winter Workman's professional relationships and business contacts," the pact states.

Last month, Ariel's father filed an objection to his daughter's current guardianship and said he would be willing to care for her himself. Workman stated in court papers that he is "more than capable of caring for Ariel in every way." Workman denied allegations in the current petition of guardianship that alleged he has been "estranged and incapable of properly caring for" Ariel.
