After years of anguish, former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and husband Mike McCuddy have welcomed their first child together.
According to People
, the baby boy (named Greyson James Carroll McCuddy) was born via gestational surrogate on Thursday afternoon, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces.
The middle name Carroll is reportedly in honor of DioGuardi's mother, who died from ovarian cancer in 1997.
Two weeks ago, the 42-year-old Grammy-nominated songwriter confirmed to People that she and her husband decided to use a surrogate after years of struggling with fertility issues.
"I've got two people on my mind," DioGuardi said. "Her (the surrogate) and the baby. She's given us this incredible gift."
