Asking celebrities out on dates via YouTube has never been more popular, and following the Marine Corps. ball invites of 2012 (Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian, Mila Kunis), high schooler Jake Davidson decided he'd ask swimsuit model Kate Upton to his prom. Little did he know, he'd get a special surprise on Wednesday's TODAY show.

Davidson, 17, posted a video on March 16 to Upton where he begins by saying, "I'm gonna be real with you here, I don't have a girlfriend, and with prom season coming around, that could be problematic for some." He adds, "You're the ying to my yang, I'm Jewish, 5'9 on a really good day - and I can't dance at all. You're Christian, 5'10, and that Cat Daddy video should have won an Oscar for best short film - you could say this is destiny.

Upton, 20, responded to the video via Twitter, writing: "You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule."

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model wasn't the only one to catch wind of this invite. TODAY show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb chatted with Davidson via simulcast and surprised him by having Upton on the phone as well. "This just got so much better!" a shocked Davidson exclaimed. Encouraging her to attend, he said, "It'll be a great night. ...I could even get the curfew extended. ...What time should I pick you up if you're interested?"

Laughing, Upton responded, "You seem like so much fun and if everything works out I'd love to go with you. I know we'd have a blast."
