ET gets to the bottom of the controversy surrounding Gwyneth Paltrow's crowning as People magazine's World's Most Beautiful Woman, interviewing both the Iron Man actress and one of the reporters responsible for the firestorm.

Earlier this week, Paltrow joined the ranks of stars such as Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie in being given the flattering title, but the 40-year-old mother of two hadn't seemed to let the adoration get to her head on Wednesday night.

At the premiere of Marvel's Iron Man 3, Paltrow assured Nancy O'Dell that she would remain humble, saying, "Are you kidding me? For God's sake, after all I've been through?"

Following the announcement, however, the Oscar winner has been lambasted as being "elitist," "pompous" and a "rail-thin Hamptons Barbie" who is "afraid of food."

"Just to look like Gwyneth Paltrow you need $70 lip balm, $425 colon cleanse, 2-hour Tracy Anderson workouts..." complained New York Post reporter Tara Palmeri. Palmeri went on to say, "I'm 100 percent for the empowerment of women, but I think that when Gwyneth Paltrow gives women unrealistic tips on how to live a great lifestyle it makes them feel worse about themselves instead of empowering them."

The Cult of Celebrity author Dr. Cooper Lawrence suggests that it may be unfair to pick on Paltrow, saying, "I don't think she means to come across as condescending. I think that's just who she is and she's trying to be honest."

As someone who has interviewed Gwyneth many times, O'Dell described the actress as "down-to-earth and one of the most genuine people in Hollywood."
