What had ET readers buzzing this week?

1. 'Today' Show Tell-All Hones In on Ann Curry's Firing

Last summer, Ann Curry was dismissed from the NBC morning show Today as co-host. The move has drawn plenty of criticism in the months that have followed, and now a tell-all book has been released detailing an alleged organized scheme to oust Curry from the show.

New York Times reporter Brian Stelter's new book Top of the Morning hones in on the recent activity surrounding Today, from a reported attempt to land Robin Roberts as co-anchor with Matt Lauer to the longstanding morning show ratings war.

At the forefront of the tell-all is the dismissal of Ann Curry, which the reporter alleges was planned well in advance.

"It wasn't obvious at the time, but Ann Curry was a dead woman walking," the Top of the Morning author said. "She was never really given a chance to co-host the show. She was being undermined the whole time."

Stelter contends that Curry's firing was conceived when Today's ratings began to slip when the show was exceeded by morning show rival Good Morning America, and a plan, internally referred to as "Operation Bambi," was brewed.

Curry was sacked from Today in June of last year but immediately signed a new contract with the network as NBC News National and International Correspondent and also Today's anchor-at-large.

"Ann Curry's last few days at Today were gut-wrenching," Stelter said. "I was watching outside from the windows and I could see that Matt Lauer and Ann Curry would never speak to each other except when they had to on camera."

Stelter's Today tell-all, Top of the Morning, was released earlier this week.

2. Kendra Taken To Hospital After Car Accident

Former Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Sunday, April 21 after a car accident.

Us Weekly reports that Wilkinson, 27, was spotted being taken to Providence Tarzana Medical center after a "bad" accident that took place in Los Angeles' Tarzana neighborhood.

A source tells the publication that Wilkinson was both "in shock" and "really sore" after the incident. Doctors tending to the former Playboy model examined her for broken bones, and reported that the injuries were not serious and she hah already been discharged.

The ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner, Wilkinson moved out of the Playboy mansion in 2009 and went on to marry former NFL wide receiver Hank Baskett III. The couple has a three-year-old son Hank Baskett IV, and all starred in the Girls Next Door spin-off about their family titled Kendra.

The accident comes on the heels of news that Wilkinson and her husband will soon be trying for baby number two.

"I have a lot coming up in the next couple of months," Wilkinson tells OK! Magazine. "But I'm really thinking in the next couple months, we're going to start trying because, you know, there's a lot I have to get out of my system before I put something back in it, if you know what I mean."

3. The Fate of Bieber's Pet Monkey in Jeopardy

When it comes to Justin Bieber's newly acquired pet Mally, a 17-week-old capuchin monkey, Bieber wants to relocate the monkey to a zoo, but according to German customs authorities, the animal isn't going anywhere, yet.

According to the Associated Press, Mally was confiscated by customs authorities on March 28 when Bieber landed in Munich while on tour and failed to produce the proper paperwork for his pet. Since then, Mally has been in the custody of the Munich

Animal Protection League where it is being housed. Bieber asked that the monkey be moved from the animal shelter and placed in a zoo.

Thomas Meister, a spokesman for customs, said that Mally will stay in the shelter until Bieber or someone with his power of attorney directly gets in contact with authorities to either provide the paperwork to regain custody or "forfeit" the animal.

In the meantime, the Munich Animal Protection League has received two emails from Bieber's camp, according to Judith Brettmeister, spokeswoman for the organization. Brettmeister said the first email asked how long Bieber had to provide the paperwork before the monkey would be euthanized -- to which the Animal Protection League replied that animals are not euthanized in German shelters.

The second email from Bieber's team said: "Our team is looking into the idea of placing Mally at a zoo in Germany. Would you happen to have any recommendations for places that Mally would be safe and thrive? Again, we are very concerned that Mally is safe and placed in the best possible residence."

Meister said Bieber has until May 17 to provide Mally's paperwork.

"If by May 17 there is nothing, then he loses ownership of the animal and it becomes the property of the Federal Republic of Germany," he said. "If Bieber really does want to place the animal in a zoo, he is welcome to contact customs authorities and forfeit Mally at any time, but will likely have to pay costs associated with keeping the monkey so far and a fine.”

4. Reese Reacts to Arrest: 'I'm Deeply Embarrassed'

Actress Reese Witherspoon was arrested last weekend alongside husband James Toth in a DUI incident, and in a statement to ET, admits that she "had one drink too many."

According to Variety's report, the Legally Blonde actress was arrested with her husband in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday morning, April 19, following an incident in which he was pulled over under suspicion of DUI after reportedly driving in the wrong lane.

Witherspoon says in a statement to ET: "Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

UPDATE: A judge confirmed on Monday that a court date has been set for Witherspoon for May 22 and Toth for May 23. The couple will not be attending their hearings.

Witherspoon, who was riding in the car with her husband, was also arrested for disorderly conduct, a local municipal ordinance, after allegedly disobeying the orders of the police man who pulled their car over.

According to the report, the 37-year-old actress was purportedly unruly while her husband was walking in the parking lot in which the officer had instructed him to pull over.

"Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer. I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet," the police report, obtained by the trade publication, details.

The police report continues to document Witherspoon's alleged rowdiness towards the officer while he was administering a sobriety test to her husband.

"'Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don’t need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You’re about to find out who I am,'" the police report alleges.

"Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, 'You are going to be on national news.' I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine."

A source close to the situation tells ET that Witherspoon got out of the car because she was concerned about her husband even though she had been told not to by the officer.

Upon her arrest, the source says that Witherspoon asked the officer if he was aware of her name for processing purposes, to which he replied by saying he didn't care. She then said that he would know soon enough.

Her husband purportedly blew a .137 on a Breathalyzer test administered by the officer despite saying that he had only had one drink a few hours prior.

Witherspoon and Toth are currently in Atlanta while she films the drama The Good Lie. Production has reportedly not disrupted by the occurrence.

The two are said to have been released on bond shortly after the incident at roughly 3:30 a.m. ET on Friday, April 19.
