UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly claims that while Shakira may not be reclaiming her red swivel chair as a judge in the upcoming Fall season, both the Colombian beauty and fellow judge Usher are set to return for the Spring. Fans of the show can expect the original line-up of judges from Season 1 which includes Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green to round out the judging panel for the next season.
Out with the new! After one season, Shakira is reportedly leaving The Voice, and will be replaced by former judge Christina Aguilera.
The Colombian beauty says she is a mom first and foremost, and the travel involved for her to stay on the show has been "hard" on her baby. In January, Shakira, 36, and partner, Gerard Pique, welcomed their son Milan in their home city of Barcelona.
"It was a hard decision for me to make, because I'm really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me," the Hips Don't Lie singer told E! News of her fellow judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Usher. "And I really enjoyed The Voice, but I also have a musical career and I'm also a mother now and my poor baby's so tired flying such long distances. He already has more miles than any pilot. So I think I have to give him a little break, and we'll see what happens in the future."
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Aguilera, 32, has inked a deal and will be returning to her swivel chair, but will Usher come back next season? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the chances are slim given the fact that the R&B singer has been confirmed to play Sugar Ray Leonard in Hands of Stone. The trade publication says former judge Cee Lo Green may also return for the upcoming fifth season.
So far, NBC has made no comment. Are you excited to see Aguilera return, or did you prefer Shakira on The Voice?
