After several months and even more contestants, Candice Glover was finally crowned the Season 12 American Idol winner. But with news that top 'dawg' Randy Jackson is leaving the show as a panel judge after 12 seasons and speculation about the future of the remaining judges, at the season finale, country crooner Keith Urban gave fans hope and told ET that he is 'open' to coming back to Idol next season.
"I'm very open to coming back. Right now, were finishing up a record. We're about to start touring in July, so I'm looking forward to that too."
Rumor have also circulated that Nicki Minaj will not be coming back next season, but when asked by ET to confirm, she said she would rather wait "for Idol to make the announcement."
Season 10 Idol winner Scott McCreery also weighed in on possible changes at the judges table, saying he had always hoped for a "country guy," but since that position has been filled by Keith Urban he'd like to see J.Lo or Steven Tyler return to their seats.
Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks confesses that he personally would be a "harsh" judge if ever chosen for the job. "I think that's what people are looking for is like a really honest critique. That's something that I would [provide]."
Hicks also mentioned pop star Justin Bieber as a possible choice. "Let's see the Biebs on there," he said amid circulating rumors that the Baby singer would make a good judge.
Huge Idol fan and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins was unbiased early in the night when asked who he thought would win the coveted title, saying the final contestants were "both talented." But when questioned about who he thought would make a good addition to the panel, the Silence Of The Lambs star recommended himself.
"Yeah I would. I don't know if I'm [fully] qualified, but yeah I know what talent is," he said.
