The TODAY show had quite the scare on Thursday morning when a man on the plaza in New York City pulled a knife, forcing the anchors indoors.

Matt Lauer announced at the top of the 8 a.m. hour that an Asian male in his fifties attempted to harm himself with a knife outside the studio. "He was controlled by our security team out there. However, he did harm himself in some way, so he’s now being attended to by medical personnel," the anchor explained. The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital. No one else was injured.
