Try as she might, Jennifer Lopez couldn't help but be overcome with emotion while accepting her very first Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday, June 20 for (specifically) her achievements in the field of music.

In the presence of friends, family, colleagues and hundreds of fans, the 43-year-old multi-talented superstar teared up as she recounted the day her life would change forever--- an afternoon in 1991 she had auditioned to become a dancer on the FOX hit In Living Color.

"I auditioned to be a Fly Girl amongst, I don't know, 2,000 girls in New York City," J.Lo remembered. "I'll never forget that day I ran into my dad on the way there and I felt, like, [it was] an omen a little bit. Like, 'Oh, I ran into my dad on the way there. Maybe I'm going to get this!' Such a far-fetched thing now that I think about it. But, I don't know. Maybe that's how you make things happen. You believe in it."

Before she would step out to address the crowd, Academy Award-Winning actress Jane Fonda, who co-starred with Lopez in 2005's Monster-in-Law, stopped by to voice her words of love and support for the woman of the hour.

"Most of these stars are on this Hollywood Walk of Fame are for a person that has one talent," said Fonda of Lopez who, in addition to being the highest-paid Latin actress in Hollywood, has sold over 75 million records worldwide. "To tell you the truth, she should have an entire block of Stars."

Lopez's Star marks the historic 2,500th time the honor has been given out since the practice began in 1960.
