Actor James Gandolfini, perhaps best known for his role as Tony Soprano died June 19 in Italy. He was 51.

Gandolfini's managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders confirmed that the Golden Globe winner passed away while on holiday in Rome, Italy. Reports suggest that his death came after a possible heart attack.

HBO also released a statement, saying, "We're all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family. He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us."

Gandolfini racked up three Emmy awards for his lead role on HBO's groundbreaking series, The Sopranos, which came along after being in the business for over a decade.

3. 'The Voice' Crowns a Season 4 Winner!

Tuesday marked another triumph for Team Blake as coach Blake Shelton's protégé Danielle Bradbery edged out Michelle Chamuel and The Swon Brothers for the number one spot.

At 16, the aspiring country singer from Cypress, Texas is the youngest contestant ever to win The Voice. She is the third person, consecutively, to win from Shelton's team in four seasons.

4. Daytime Emmys 2013: 'B&B' Wins Big, Lucas Wins

Daytime television's elite gathered on July 16 at the Beverly Hilton for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Above all the night's festivities, one of the few surviving soap operas, The Bold and the Beautiful, won big.

The soap opera, which has been running since 1986, took home a total of four awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Heather Tom) Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (Scott Clifton), Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team, and Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team.

Among the winners (listed below) was also George Lucas, who took home his very first Emmy for his animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The show, hosted by Morning Express' Robin Meade, Good Morning America's Sam Champion, and A.J. Hammer of Showbiz Tonight, contained a few production gaffes, including a misplaced awards envelope that left the cast of The Talk stranded on the stage while the crew searched to find the correct one.

With all the glitz and glory of awards being dished out, the show took a somber moment to honor all the TV icons that passed away since last year's Daytime Emmys, including Jeanne Cooper, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Gary Cooper, with a song from Italian opera group Il Volo.

Among the late greats honored was hailed TV producer Bob Stewart, who was celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Betty White. Legendary game show host Monty Hall also received a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to him by Let's Make a Deal's Wayne Brady.

Although most of the awarded shows have trophy cases full of Daytime Emmys (e.g., The Bold and the Beautiful, The Ellen DeGeneres Show), many of the actors and actresses were first-time winners or genuinely stunned to have won an award.

No reaction to hearing her name called was more genuine than that of All My Children's Julie Marie Berman, whose face paled as she underwent a brief spell of shock upon hearing that she had just won her third total Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

5. Johnny Depp on 'Unpleasant' Split with Paradis

Johnny Depp is commenting in-depth for the first time on his 2012 split (first reported by ET) from his longtime love and the mother of his two children, Vanessa Paradis, a breakup that he calls "unpleasant," and "hard on every side."

"The last couple years have been a bit bumpy. At times, certainly unpleasant, but that's the nature of breakups, I guess, especially when there are kiddies involved," Johnny, who was with Paradis for 14 years, reveals in a wide-ranging new Rolling Stone profile.

But just because he and Vanessa are no longer a couple doesn't diminish his respect for the mother of his children: "Relationships are very difficult," he tells Rolling Stone. "Especially in the racket that I'm in, because you're constantly away or they're away, and so it's hard. It wasn't easy on her. It wasn't easy on me. It wasn't easy on the kids. So, yeah. The trajectory of that relationship – you play it out until it goes, one thing leads to another. So for whatever reason that ceases, it doesn't stop the fact that you care for that person, and they're the mother of your kids, and you'll always know each other, and you're always gonna be in each other's lives because of those kids. You might as well make the best of it."

Johnny says his love for he and Paradis' two kids, Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, made him want to stay sober through the breakup: "In terms of the breakup, I definitely wasn't going to rely on the drink … I felt it was my duty to be real clear throughout that. I had something pretty serious to focus on, really, which was making sure that my kids were gonna be cool."

And it sounds like Johnny achieved that goal: "They've been incredibly understanding, incredibly strong throughout the whole ordeal. And it's hard on every side. You know, Vanessa's side, certainly not easy. My side, not easy. The kids are the most complicated. The thing is, kiddies come first. You can't shield them, because then you'd be lying. So you can at least be honest with your kids, and you say the absolute truth to your child – that was very important to not pussyfoot around."

Johnny also commented on his atypical-for-Hollywood low key style, recounting duct-taping a pair of pants before attending his son's school event: "There was this really long tear – and there were no undergarments involved. … I just immediately looked for duct tape. I know, it's pathetic. And then I continue to wear them."

On his glasses (he frequently dons a pair with a blue tint), they are prescription. "Everything is just very, very blurry," he says. "I've never had proper vision." In fact, the magazine reports that in films where Johnny's character doesn't wear glasses, he can't see more than a few inches in front of his face.

And, is retirement in his future? In the interview, (done a few weeks shy of his June 9 birthday), Johnny reports, "I'm kicking 50 right up the ass. ... I can't say that I'd want to be doing this for another 10 years."

But it's not happening anytime soon. He says, "I think while I've got the opportunity and the desire and the creative spark to do the things that I can do right now, I should do them. And then, at a certain point, just take it down to the bare minimum and concentrate on, I guess, living life. Really living life. And going somewhere where you don't have to be on the run, or sneak in through the kitchen or the underground labyrinth of the hotel. At a certain point, when you get old enough or get a few brain cells back, you realize that, on some level, you lived a life of a fugitive."
