The First Family Sends Well Wishes to Will & Kate

Prince William and his bride Kate Middleton have been shown an outpouring of love and congratulations since becoming first-time parents this morning in London, and U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are the latest high-profile figures to relay their happiness for the couple on this exciting day.

In an open letter to Will and Kate, President Obama writes:

"Michelle and I are so pleased to congratulate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the joyous occasion of the birth of their first child. We wish them all the happiness and blessings parenthood brings. The child enters the world at a time of promise and opportunity for our two nations. Given the special relationship between us, the American people are pleased to join with the people of the United Kingdom as they celebrate the birth of the young prince."

With William by her side, Kate delivered a healthy boy on Monday, July 22, at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
