Prince William and Kate Middleton emerged from St. Mary's Hospital in London on Tuesday -- one day after Kate gave birth to the couple's son -- and debuted the royal baby to the world for the first time!

The two appeared on the steps of the hospital's private Lindo Wing and waved to a throng of photographers and cheering royal onlookers with the baby swaddled in a white blanket. Kate wore a blue dress with white polka dots designed by British designer Jenny Packham.

William and Kate also spoke briefly with reporters. "It's very special," said William. "He's a big boy. He's quite heavy." He jokingly added: "He's got her looks, thankfully." He also quipped about the baby's hair, saying "He's got way more than me, thank God." He added the couple is still working on a name for their royal son, who arrived Monday afternoon weighing in at 8 lbs, 6 oz.

Earlier Tuesday, both Will and Kate's parents paid a visit to the hospital and got the first glimpse of their new grandchild. Carole and Michael Middleton commented to reporters on the royal baby after the visit, saying, "He's absolutely beautiful," adding that both baby and mother were doing well. Prince William's father Charles, Prince of Wales, and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also visited the hospital.
