In court documents filed on Tuesday, Terrence Howard's ex-wife Michelle Ghent alleges that the actor physically abused her during a trip to Costa Rica last week.

The documents, which include photos of Ghent with bruises on her face and body, allege that Howard became upset when Ghent refused to continue their relationship.

Ghent goes on to allege that Howard struck her in the face, leading her to pepper spray him. Ghent also filed a temporary restraining order against Howard on Tuesday.

Howard categorically denied Ghent's abuse accusations at last night's premiere of Lee Daniels' The Butler, telling ET's Nancy O'Dell, "[The allegations are] completely wrong. Unfortunately there are some documents that will come out and will tell everything that has occurred, but I never laid my hands on that woman or any woman -- that's just not my way."
