Who has Miley Cyrus become?  According to the Disney-star-turned-polarizing-singer, she's the same "bad bitch" she's always been.

From the day We Can't Stop hit the airwaves to the raunchy VMA performance on everyone's lips, MTV cameras followed Cyrus' every step for the documentary Miley: The Movement, an intimate portrait of the 20-year-old which aired Tuesday night and shed some light on the person behind the Miley "movement."

In the one-hour program, Cyrus reflects on taking creative control of her music and image in the summer of 2012, around when she cut her once-long locks into a punk-inspired 'do.

"I need to let go of a past in a way because I felt like we need to see change," she says about the big cut, which came to fruition after creative sparks flew with artist Pharrell. "Everything that happens we need to see with our own eyes. I just felt like I had this whole new attitude. I felt like I could finally be the bad bitch I really am."

While much has transpired in the year since Cyrus drastically changed her appearance, the We Can't Stop singer's shocking VMA performance set into motion a backlash of epic proportions which she admits both amuses and fortifies her.

"You can watch that performance from the VMAs and people could think it was a hot mess--but it's a strategic hot mess. Right now I'm in a point in my career where I can just be exactly who I want to be," she says. "I am very comfortable with sexuality. I like pushing the boundaries. But I'm coming out in pigtails looking like a giant adult baby, basically, but doing really naughty stuff. That's obviously funny. If I really wanted to come out and do a raunchy sex show, I wouldn't have come out dressed as a damn bear."

And though Cyrus didn't directly address the trouble brewing between herself and her former fiancé Liam Hemsworth, she alludes to stress about her personal life, which admittedly took a backseat to her career.

"Right now, I've, like, put this record before everything else in my entire life. If I don't go out there and make this record the biggest thing that's ever hit the world than I sacrificed a lot for no reason."

If you missed the one-hour special on Wednesday, MTV will air a
90-minute deluxe edition of the original broadcast titled Miley: The
Movement
on Sunday, October 6 at 8pm ET/PT.
